Ignite Impact 2024
The Ignite pilot began in December 2023 and ran through May 2024, providing elementary educators with knowledge and skills in computer science foundational concepts. Using the 'train the trainer' model, 111 Ambassadors trained in computational thinking, block programming, and physical computing, redelivered the training to 640 teachers. The initiative successfully trained 751 educators in 41 parishes across Louisiana. This impact is reflected in the Louisiana parish graphic below.
Ignite Impact 2025
The second iteration of the Ignite Initiative began in February 2025, hosting 5 virtual cohorts and 1 fully in-person cohort at Louisiana State University's Patrick F. Taylor Hall in June 2025. Through a rigorous curriculum led by expert facilitators, 96 elementary educators gained the knowledge and confidence to meaningfully integrate computer science concepts into their core classroom instruction. Ignite Impact 2026
Year 3 of the Ignite Initiative hosted 1 fully virtual cohort, 2 hybrid cohorts, and 1 fully in-person cohort. This iteration welcomed teachers from 6 new parishes across the state, with a total of 74 educators successfully completing the program. Thank you to our host sites, Ouachita Parish School Board, Northwestern State University, and the West Baton Rouge Career Academy. To date, Ignite has trained more than 900 elementary educators in 52 parishes. The Louisiana parish map below showcases the geographical reach of participating teachers across the state thus far.
