I am so excited about a new partnership between ExxonMobil, Volunteers In Public Schools(VIPS), and Baton Rouge Youth Coalition(BRYC) have teamed up to bridge the gap between summer vacation and the start of the new school year by initiating its Math & Me project. Math & Me pairs students enrolled in summer school at Park Elementary with high school Fellows from BRYC to serve as Math Friend mentors. BRYC Fellows will spend one hour each week becoming acquainted with their students and helping them improve basic math skills. BRYC Fellows will use the guided lessons and resources from VIPS EveryOne Counts program to work on addition, subtraction, place value, and measurement. Funding from ExxonMobil supplies the Park students with hands-on activities to enhance counting and measurement skills.
