LASTEM is entering an exciting new chapter as we transition from being housed at the Louisiana Board of Regents to our new home at LA Works, formerly the Louisiana Workforce Commission. While our mission of advocating for and promoting STEM across Louisiana remains at the heart of what we do, this move allows us to expand our impact in meaningful ways.
As part of LA Works, LASTEM will deepen its focus on workforce development, workforce preparation, and career readiness. We will continue to serve as the voice for STEM in every region, bringing STEM to the forefront of policy discussions, community conversations, and collaborative planning. Our role will include convening region-wide dialogues that spark shared beliefs, build awareness, and generate excitement about STEM pathways and opportunities for learners of all ages.
This transition also strengthens our commitment to connecting education with industry. By fostering stronger partnerships with local businesses and community organizations, we aim to enhance STEM education, expand work-based learning experiences, and ensure that teachers have the support they need to prepare students for the rapidly evolving world of work.
We see this move as more than a change in location, it’s a chance to grow, innovate, and champion lifelong learning in STEM education and careers. The Capital Area STEM Network Center is ready for this next step, and we look forward to continuing our work with partners across the state to shape a vibrant, STEM-powered future for Louisiana.
