In a significant move towards enhancing IT education in Louisiana, the Capital Area STEM Network Center proudly announces its partnership with CompTIA as an Academic Partner. This collaboration brings a wealth of benefits to students and educators, expanding the offering of IT education across the region. CompTIA's Academic Partner Program is a game-changer for schools, offering practical tools and resources to enhance IT training and certification. From discounts on exam vouchers to access to instructional materials and webinars, CompTIA equips academic partners with everything they need to prepare students for success in the tech world.

Kim Kaufman, the new lead for the Computing Pathway at LSU STEM Pathways, explains the significance of CompTIA certifications. These credentials, such as IT Fundamentals (now Tech Plus), Network + and Security+ are industry-recognized and serve as a solid foundation for students entering the IT field. Kaufman emphasizes the integration of CompTIA certifications within the curriculum of LSU STEM Pathways, focusing particularly on the Computing Pathways and the new cybersecurity course. By combining IT Fundamentals with essential network knowledge, students are equipped with a comprehensive skill set that aligns with industry standards and demands. Additionally, since these certifications are recognized on the Jumpstart graduation pathways, this partnership expands the teacher professional development offerings for both teachers providing TOPS U and Jumpstart classes.

With the potential of Louisiana legislature’s requirement of having a computer science course for high school students, the partnership between the Capital Area STEM Network Center, CompTIA, and LSU Gordon A. Cain Center for STEM Literacy is essential because it's transforming IT education in Louisiana by ensuring that students have access to high-quality resources, support, and industry recognized credentials.

The new partnership between the Capital Area STEM Network Center, CompTIA, and LSU Gordon A. Cain Center for STEM Literacy’s STEM Pathways is a big step forward for IT education in Louisiana. By working together, we are making sure students have what they need to do well in the digital world.
