CTEC Champions Shine at SkillsUSA Competition

The East Baton Rouge Parish Career & Technical Education Center (CTEC) students have once again demonstrated their exceptional technical skills at the recent SkillsUSA competition in Houma. Representing schools from across the parish, these students showcased their expertise and dedication, bringing home an impressive array of awards and accolades.

 

In total, these CTEC champions secured 3 Gold, 1 Silver, and 2 Bronze awards, highlighting their proficiency across a diverse range of technical fields. Additionally, two students were awarded $5000 in tuition grants, further recognizing their outstanding achievements and potential.  The winners of the state competition and their teachers are:

·         Gold Networking: Jeremiah Martin from Belaire High School, Teacher: Kendrick Nwafor

·         Gold HVAC: Juan Garcia Cardona from Tara High School, Teacher: Jeff Maruschak

·         Gold Automotive: William Ethan Coppersmith from Liberty Magnet High School, Teacher Ron Parrish

·         Silver Electrical Motor Controls: Kaylee Pham from Belaire High School, Teacher: Bruce Williams

·         Bronze Carpentry: Ayden Ligon from Scotlandville High School, Teacher: Ed Gautreax

·         Bronze Photography: Damarion Lacey from Broadmoor High School, Teacher: Kyle Perrilloux

 

The three gold winners will be traveling to Georgia in June for the National Competition. At the heart of SkillsUSA lies a shared commitment to excellence and the development of a world-class skilled workforce. Through hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world experiences, SkillsUSA empowers students to excel in their chosen fields and prepares them for successful careers in the skilled trades. These remarkable accomplishments reflect not only the talent and dedication of our students but also the exceptional guidance and support provided by the CTEC educators and industry partners.
