
On April 30, the Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) Working Group, in coordination with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), hosted the first-ever CAV Innovation Day on DOTD's campus. The one-day event included programming led by industry experts and policymakers, interactive exhibits, networking opportunities, and more.
Panelists discussed the innovation of future infrastructure in Louisiana and the state of autonomous freight. Talks presented by the DOTD, Google, Louisiana Economic Development, Causeway one.network, and Glydways gave insights into innovative ways Louisiana can move forward.
Exhibitors from industries showcased amazing new technologies such as Waymo's self-driving car, formerly known as the Google Self-Driving Car Project. The Waymo Driver gives people a new kind of freedom - to go where they want, when they want, while making the frustrations and concerns with driving a thing of the past.
Capital Area STEM Network Center attended as an exhibitor and hosted a booth showcasing Finch Robots' novice connection to autonomous vehicles. Through exposure to these elementary computer science concepts, students become engaged and interested in technology innovation. CASN believes that preparing young minds now will help build our technology driven workforce in the future.
